What to Wear to a Casual Holiday Party

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

The holidays are full of events that require a whole lot of sparkle and glam. But, what do you wear to those low key casual parties? I think many of us could agree that we would rather be wearing our “comfies”, but even though some parties are listed as casual, you still want to look nice, put together, and overall festive!
I think I have found a solution to that, “I want to look good, but comfortable” dilemma. During the winter months, sweaters are always my go-to. This is mostly because they are amazingly comfortable and warm, but yet they can be styled in the chicest ways. So, if you are looking for a cute but casual outfit then start with a sweater. This sweater can be festive colors like mine, or it can be a white/grey/black sweater that leaves you with a blank slate. What I mean by this is that it allows you to add color to your outfit in other ways, such as with shoes, layers, or other accessories.

Next, let’s talk about bottoms. I always want to wear comfortable pants (especially if there is going to be a ton of food). With this outfit, I chose to wear my distressed girlfriend jeans because I have been loving this trend as of late. These are not too tight, and result in an immediate trendy look. If you do not like the style of girlfriend/boyfriend jeans, then you could wear your favorite pair of jeans (or the ones that compliment the rest of the hues in your outfit). If you really want to get comfortable, faux leather leggings would take this outfit to the next level! I love faux leather leggings or pants for this time of year because they add a festive texture to your outfit. I have not tried these specific pair of faux leather leggings, but I have heard that they are life changing and that everyone loves them! If you are looking for a high-quality pair, I think they are your best bet!

Finally, for the accessories! I chose to keep this outfit very simple and accessorized with these taupe heeled booties (that are under $30 by the way!!), but normally I would probably have some delicate layered gold necklaces on (but they have seemed to bother my skin lately so I decided not to put one on this day). I planned to style this outfit with white booties, but have not found ones that I am willing to spend my money on. But, white booties would be the perfect touch to this outfit or even over-the-knee boots! If you are looking for other ways to accessorize, add your favorite red/wine booties or bag if you are wearing a more neutral colored sweater. This is a great way to add color to your outfit, and like I have said a million times already in this post it is so…festive! Other simple ways to take your look to the next level would be to add some red lipstick or try a sparkly eye look.

There is no need to stress about what to wear to holiday parties, but I know that sometimes I get worried about what to wear to both casual and fancy events. I hope this post helps and gives you ideas about how to dress for at least your casual get togethers!
Thanks for stopping by, Lovely!!
