The Most Timeless Second Layer For Fall

So, this is embarrassing…
I planned to write about a classic second layer for fall, but fall decided to take the nearest exist where I live! It is literally winter now. Snow. The freezing weather. The whole nine yards. Yayyyyyyy. I am obviously thrilled! On the bright side, maybe the winter weather will make watching Christmas movies feel a little more acceptable (probably a tad premature, but I’m not ashamed)!! So I am still going to do my best to talk about how trench coats are a classic layering piece for fall, while I currently have to bundle up in my puffer coat, mittens, and hat.
Although it feels like the dead of winter here, it is a very good possibility that you are experiencing the joys of normal fall weather where you live. Your leaves are still golden and it is the perfect weather for a sweater, and a light jacket on cooler days. There are endless options for jackets and second layers for fall, but one that always comes to mind is a trench jacket/coat.

I really believe that everyone should have some sort of trench jacket or coat in their closet because they are such a timeless piece. What I mean by this is, that they are a classic item that is always in style (or at least will be for a very long time). Of course classics can change slightly throughout time (for example such as popular colors or lengths), but the overall style remains the same.

In addition, they can really make an outfit look instantly chic. Throw a trench over your favorite tee and jeans look, and you have a very stylish (yet subtle) outfit. Just make sure the trench is not too long or too big for you. You do not want it to look like it is consuming you, or that you are drowning in it.  This just results in a sloppy look. Remember: Fit is always key!

I suggest having a trench coat in a classic color. Sure, a burnt orange trench coat may be perfect for this season, but that color could be appalling next year. When buying classics, I always think it is a good idea to keep it neutral so they truly stay classic, and you are guaranteed to be able to wear it years from now.

For those of you who can, enjoy being able to wear trench coats and jackets while you can! I only had a small window to wear mine, and sadly it is not warm enough for the cold temperatures now. Hopefully this cold weather and snow is just a fluke, and I have a chance to wear mine again! If not… until next fall trench coat!
My trench coat is from Who What Wear at Target this past Fall/Spring so it is no where to be found, but I linked my favorite trenches at the moment earlier in the post! My outfit details from this post will be linked at the end of the post as well! Hope you all had a great Tuesday!!
Thanks for stopping by, Lovely!!
