10 Must-Have Items To Have In Your Closet For The Holidays

Hey Hey, Holidays!!
I know I constantly say things like this, but how can it be December 1st tomorrow?? I am not complaining though because it will officially be one of my favorite months of the year! Don’t get me wrong… I am not a fan of the weather we have here (it has been so nice here lately, but the forecast looks like that is sadly going to change), but I love love love the happiness and cheer that this time of year brings. It is so cozy, full of love, and although it is freezing it somehow is full of such warmth. It is also full of amazing clothes, and although I am not a fan of the cold weather, the temperatures and occasions bring us so many outfit options! Today I am going to talk about 10 pieces I think you need in your closet for the Holidays!

1. White/Cream Sweater
A white or cream sweater is one of my absolute favorite things to have in my closet, especially this time of the year. They are so easy to pair with jeans, skirts, and even layered over dresses.
Styling tip: Try pairing your white sweater with your favorite pair of jeans and a red or wine pair of booties or heels for a festive, yet casual holiday look!!

2. Red/Burgundy Sweater
A red or burgundy sweater is a MUST for the holiday season! I personally love how popular red has been this season, but know that red just does not work well with my hair and skin tone. This means that I rarely every wear red (sad I know) and I try to wear colors closer to burgundy tones. This still allows me to wear festive colors throughout the holidays! But girl, if red works for you, then work it! I would kill to be able to pull it off!!
Styling Tip: Slightly tuck your sweater into a plaid skirt, and finish your look with tights and kitten heels or black over-the-knee boots!

3. Little Black Dress

I do not think that there is a time that your closet should be without a little black dress! When you are not sure what to wear, a little black dress is always an amazing answer! They are perfect for holiday parties or get togethers, and can be styled casually or dressy.

Styling Tip: Try pairing your little black dress with black ankle-strap heels and statement earrings, for a simple and classy holiday party outfit!

4. Something in Plaid

Plaid is such a classic print for this time of year! It can be a simple touch to an outfit like a scarf, or make a bigger statement like a plaid skirt! It can also be muted in color or consist of very festive hues!

Styling Tip #1: Pair a plaid blazer with your favorite girlfriend/boyfriend jeans, white top, and white heeled booties.

Styling Tip #2: Add a plaid scarf to an outfit that needs a touch of dimension. This is an example of how I added print to an outfit with my plaid scarf.

5. Something That Sparkles

No time of the year shines quite like this one, and it is always fun to add a little (or a lot) of glow to your outfits. Sparkly items are sometimes thought to be reserved for New Years Eve, but I think it is appropriate for the entire holiday season! Remember that your “something that sparkles” does not have to be a dress. It can be statement jewelry, skirts, metallic sweaters, or even metallic shoes (which are very popular as of late).

Styling Tip #1: Pair a gold dress with white heels and a faux fur jacket for a very #extra holiday look!
